We are very are proud of our first truly international Project, managed from design to installation. Stone Eden Nursery which is a British founded Nursery, approached us to help them set-up their very first British Early Years Foundation Stage Nursery Standards in Guangzhou’s In China.
This Nursery is located in Guangzhou’s City Centre iconic Opera House which is a building that was designed by the late Zaha Hadid.
The brief for the project was to create a well lit homely feel environment for the children to play and learn using British Lighting Standards whilst also meeting Chinese Standards. We achieved this by using a slightly warmer colour temperature (3500K) with the downlights in the classrooms and linear fittings in the corridors. This allowed us to achieve a comfortable colour of light throughout but still maintaining a modern & contemporary appearance.
For the indoor, outdoor play area, we used track spot fittings with a Cool White colour temperature (4500K). This helped to separate the outdoor play area from the rest of the indoor area, to make it feel more like an outdoor play area. We decided against using Daylight colour temperature (6500K) because it was a too much of a harsh contrast from the rooms, especially since the largest class room has a folding door which opens and folds out to provide access to the outdoor area.
Comment from Stone Eden – Director Yolanda Huang
“We are so pleased with the Lighting Design carried out by Save Light, they were very easy to work with, they have a great deal of knowledge about Lighting. The lighting scheme has really helped us to stand out amongst other Nurseries, and parents have often compliments us on how nice our lighting is”
